Lucinda, a California Red sheep and Millie, a Barnevelder chicken, happily coexist on the vineyard farm where the winemakers at Lucinda & Millie have grown grapes organically for two decades. Lucinda and her herd graze between the vineyards rows in the spring to keep cover crops under control and keep (the sheep) happy before they are sheared! Millie and her flock are nearby gathering insects, worms and grasses to provide some of the most delicious brown eggs in the county.
Lucinda & Millie Wines are made from 100% organically grown grapes certified by the California Certified Organic Farmers. Some of Lucinda & Millie’s vineyards have been certified for over 20 years. Lucinda & Millie’s winemakers are dedicated to making delicious wines created in an atmosphere where tradition and natural methods bring balance and a healthy lifestyle. This means the vineyards are free from the use of chemicals like pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and chemical fertilizers. Natural practices are used to keep the vines healthy and life in and around the vineyards natural. That means a lot of “chirping, buzzing, clucking and baaing”!
